Recently, my girlfriend and I had the opportunity to explore Embrun, a fantastic destination accessible by night train from Paris via Intercités. Beyond the numerous outdoor activities, we also took the chance to try out several restaurants and their vegetarian options.
Isn't this veggie raviole beautiful?
Discovered by chance while strolling through downtown Embrun, we ended up enjoying a delicious lunch on the terrace. The food is homemade, the produce fresh, seasonal and local, the service friendly, the presentation well thought-out... In short, a very good address with several vegetarian options. In particular, we tried the velouté and ravioles.
Expect to pay around €60 per person for starter, main course, dessert and wine.
Address: 14 Pl. Gén Dosse, 05200 Embrun
A dessert so well presented that one almost hesitates to eat it...
Just a twenty-minute bike ride from downtown Embrun, we enjoyed a meal at the bar-restaurant La Cantine, in Baratier. Dining there makes perfect sense if, like us, you decide to stay at La Fernande B&B, which we featured in our article on the best eco-responsible accommodation in Embrun, as it's only 4 minutes away.
Here, too, the produce is local, the ingredients seasonal, the presentation meticulous and the cuisine delicious. We highly recommend it!
Address: Pl. du Village, 05200 Baratier
The highlight of this restaurant: the terrace!
For a casual lunch on Embrun's waterfront, we recommend the lovely terrace of L’abri-Côtier, the restaurant at the Club Nautique Alpin Serre Ponçon. At lunchtime, you can opt for the vegetarian wrap with delicious sweet potato fries. The menu evolves in the evening, offering options like the morel mushroom puff pastry.
Price: Approximately €20 per person for a snack, dessert, and drink.
Address: Chem. de Chadenas, 05200 Embrun
For a good wood-fired pizza or a traditional mountain dish before catching the night train back to Paris, Pizz'Alpes is the place to be. We tried the vegetarian and Savoyard pizzas, so we're all set to board the train with a full belly.
Expect to pay between €12 and €19 for a pizza or the daily menu.
Address: 9 Pl. Saint-Marcellin, 05200 Embrun
