For some itineraries, we offer a ferry stopover, but only under certain conditions: There is no other carbon-free alternative (train, sail...) with regular departures. The distance covered by ferry is as short as possible. Compliance with this last rule generally means a much lower carbon footprint than for the same journey by plane, even if ferry travel cannot be considered an environmentally-friendly mode of transport. In addition to their GHG emissions, these large ships are also very disruptive to marine life. The other interesting thing about this type of mobility is that it also allows us to reconsider our relationship with time, and encourages a form of sobriety in terms of mileage. It's hard to imagine a two-day citytrip to Dublin by train and ferry... However, our philosophy is not to do without hydrocarbons altogether, but simply to consider them as a last resort.
