With 40% of its area comprised of parks, gardens, and forests, Berlin is literally a green city (with over 2,500 green spaces). But it's also a city where you can easily get around by bike or public transport, with a highly advanced waste management system, recent eco-districts, and numerous sustainable accommodation options.

We've selected 5 to help you prepare for your next trip to Berlin.

Urban Loft Berlin, a few minutes' walk from the central station

A ten-minute walk down from the train, and you're at Urban Loft! A modern hotel with carefully curated decor. Art is also highlighted in the rooms with beautiful prints. It features a gym, perfect coworking spaces, and a terrace.

Sustainability is prioritized, with actions recognized and certified by the GreenSign organization. This includes room access cards made from bamboo or wood, the implementation of water fountains, sourcing as locally as possible, cosmetics made from unused agricultural products, and hypoallergenic pillows and duvets.

Its central location provides access to all public transport necessary for exploring the city.

East Seven, the youth hostel

This is the solution for combining a small budget with social encounters. Prices start from €25 per night in a 10-bed dormitory. There are also dormitories reserved for women, 4-bed dormitories, as well as family rooms and double rooms.

This youth hostel is located in the Prenzlauer Berg district with many cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby and easy access to public transport. Alexanderplatz is two stops away.

You can prepare your meals in the shared kitchen and share good times in the common room or in the private garden, the big plus of this hostel.

The atmosphere is relaxed, family-friendly, and events are organized every week. However, there is no air conditioning or elevator here.

More than 20 actions are implemented for sustainable tourism such as waste sorting and water-saving devices.

INNSiDE by Meliá Berlin Mitte

Here's a hotel with modern and design decoration, in white and blue tones, with light wood and plants in common areas, and beautiful furniture. It is located near the Berlin Wall Memorial, which we recommend visiting. The subway is 50 meters away, but it is also possible to reach the Brandenburg Gate or Museum Island in a 30-minute walk.

A gym and a Finnish sauna await you on the 6th floor, as well as a small furnished terrace. Perfect for sunset!

The establishment also has the Earthcheck label, a sign of strong ecological commitment: use of renewable energies, reduction of water consumption, reduction or elimination of waste. Customers are also sensitized by a green tour.

The hotel is also recognized as a Queer Destinations Hotel, a program that prepares companies and destinations to welcome the LGBTQ+ community by sensitizing and training all their employees.

Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz

Scandinavian style, light, and nature, this is the recipe for this hotel. Thus, the rooms have parquet floors and light colors. Large bay windows let in light.

The vegetalized wall of its restaurant evokes nature. This is where you'll have your buffet breakfast with organic, gluten-free, and lactose-free products.

If you want to exercise, an equipped gym awaits you on the 8th floor with a bonus panoramic view of the city. For a more chill moment, head to the sauna!

The hotel is located near Potsdamer Platz, a square through which the Berlin Wall passed until 1989. Today, it's a modern place and district, rebuilt from 1990. The square is not to be missed, and the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie are just a few minutes' walk away. Public transport is also available nearby.

All Scandic group hotels use renewable energy sources, 95% of their products are eco-certified, and they recycle 76% of their waste. Moreover, each employee participates in three social actions per year. Beehives are present on the hotel's roof.

NH Berlin Alexanderplatz

Another different neighborhood for this last hotel. You can reach Alexanderplatz by tram from the hotel. It's the square with the famous television tower, one of Berlin's symbols.

The hotel is right next to Friedrichshain Park. The rooms are spacious and modern. There is also a gym and a spa.

The hotel is certified by Bioscore for its sustainable approach. It has notably eliminated all single-use plastics such as those used for drinks, cosmetics, straws, and stirrers.
