The Arcachon Basin is accessible by train from Paris via a t TGV trip to Bordeaux, then a TER to Le Bassin.
From Paris-Montparnasse, allow about 3 hours to reach the first stations in the Bassin area and between 3 and 3.5 hours to reach Arcachon, depending on connections.
This is because the Arcachon Basin has a particularly extensive rail network, with no fewer than seven stations scattered all around the bay: Arcachon, La Teste-de-Buch, La Hume, Gujan-Mestras, Le Teich, Biganos-Facture, and Marcheprime.
From Bordeaux, the first stops in the Bassin area can be reached in just 25 minutes by TER, while Arcachon is about 40 to 50 minutes away.
The local bus network then makes it easy to travel between the various municipalities in the Bassin region.
Explore downtown La Teste-de-Buch and its lively market, stroll along the waterfront, savor local specialties at the Place du Marché... There’s no shortage of things to do.
It's also impossible to miss the Dune du Pilat. As the tallest dune in Europe, it offers a spectacular view of the basin, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Landes Forest.
