5 sporting activities to discover around Avignon, between nature and thrills
  • 1Water-skiing at Urban Wake Park (Le Pontet)
  • 2Skydiving around Avignon (Pujaut)
  • 3Canoe trip on the Roquemaure canal
  • 4Indoor climbing (Vedène)
  • 5Nature exploration and caving in Vaucluse

For nature and thrill-seekers alike, there's no need to choose between culture and sport in the Grand Avignon (the community of 16 communes between the Gard and Vaucluse departments, all around Avignon)! Water-skiing, parachute jumping, rock-climbing, canoeing... Here are our favorite activities to discover around Avignon.

1. Water-skiing at Urban Wake Park (Le Pontet)

Suitable for beginners and advanced riders alike, it's the ideal activity to enjoy with friends or family! The principle? Ride and chill! If you're a thrill-seeker, you'll be able to ride on the water whatever your level. With its two waterski lift lines (a “small” one - dedicated to beginners - and a “large” one), everyone is welcome. And if you like a challenge, the nine Unit-Tech modules will enable you to progress rapidly and master new techniques.

You very soon?

As for the chill-out area, there's also a paddling area where you can enjoy a leisurely sail. And if you want to relax after a sporting session, you can take advantage of the pontoon, the terrace, the benches and the restaurant. A great way to spend a summer evening in the heart of the city.

→ Practical info:

  • Address: 15 Avenue Charles de Gaulle, 84130 Le Pontet
  • Booking: via the Urban Wake Park website or by phone

2. Skydiving around Avignon (Pujaut)

Do you prefer the thrill of adrenalin? Then you'll love skydiving in Pujaut. We recommend two centers:

Volomax: this center offers introductory skydiving lessons, tandem skydiving, and even skydiving courses. And if you'd like to experience the thrill of flight without having to jump out of a plane, you can take advantage of the center's free-fall simulator (accessible from age 5)!

→ Practical info:

  • Address : Aérodrome d'Avignon - Pujaut, route du Camp d'Aviation - 30131 Pujaut
  • Opening hours : the center is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am to 7pm (including public holidays).
  • Reservations: directly by telephone

UPnFLY : the center also offers introductory jumping, tandem jumping and PAC (Progression Accompagné en Chute) courses.

→ Practical info:

  • Address : Aérodrome d'Avignon - Pujaut, route du Camp d'Aviation - 30131 Pujaut
  • Opening hours : the center is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am to sunset, outside the winter season (closed in December, January and February).
  • Reservations: by telephone or via the website

3. Canoe trip on the Roquemaure canal

Would you rather watch birds and blue dragonflies and marvel at biodiversity from the comfort of a canoe or kayak? Meet us at the Place de la Mairie in Roquemaure! After a short historical walk to the boat launch, you can enjoy a pleasant canoë trip, ideal for the whole family.

→ Practical info:

  • Address: departure from Place de la Mairie, 30150 Roquemaure

4. Indoor climbing (Vedène)

If you'd rather climb than jump, head for the Clip ‘n Climb climbing center! With some thirty climbing courses for all levels (from 6 years upwards), you'll have a good hour's exercise (whatever your level), before relaxing over a coffee or a good meal.

Woman climbing

The perfect blend of sport, challenge and fun!

→ Practical info:

  • Address : ZAC de Chalençon, rond point de Morières, 84270 VEDÈNE
  • Opening hours : the climbing center is open on Wednesdays and weekends from 10.15am to 7pm, and every day during school vacations.
  • Reservations: online via the center's website (you won't need any special equipment: everything is provided on site).

5. Nature exploration and caving in Vaucluse

Whether you're looking for adventure or just curious, we can't recommend exploring the treasures of the region and the underground world with CAMINATERRA. Caving, canyoning, via ferrata... In practice, Bruno will propose tailor-made adventures, with walks adapted to all levels and ages, from family outings (or with friends) to more technical explorations.

Grotto

An opportunity to discover caving?

→ Practical info:

  • Booking : booking recommended (by phone or mail)
