On August 25, 2026, European Sleeper and the German operator RDC announced a partnership to launch a new overnight train service between Brussels/Amsterdam and Copenhagen/Malmö. Service is scheduled to begin in April 2028. This would be European Sleeper’s first route to Scandinavia, as well as the first direct overnight train between the Benelux countries and Northern Europe!
Currently, there is no direct rail connection between the Benelux countries and Scandinavia. For Chris Engelsman, co-founder of European Sleeper, this new line would therefore fill a gap. To achieve this, the two partners are drawing on their respective expertise: RDC already has experience with overnight trains to northern destinations, notably through the Basel–Copenhagen–Malmö line launched in April 2026, while European Sleeper brings its network and a growing customer base in the Benelux region.

European Sleeper: Brussels–Milan, Paris–Berlin, and Prague night trains in 2026
The train would first follow the same route as the line to Milan from Brussels, passing through Antwerp, Roosendaal, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Amsterdam, before continuing on to Denmark and then Sweden.
Under current plans, trains would depart Brussels and Malmö around 7:00 p.m. and arrive at their destination the next day around 10:00 a.m. However, these schedules are still subject to change: European Sleeper and RDC are currently working with infrastructure managers to finalize the route and schedules.
In terms of comfort, the train would offer the same categories already available on European Sleeper trains: seating, berths, and sleeper compartments. “Deluxe” compartments, featuring a double bed and a private bathroom, are also being considered.
Once you arrive in Copenhagen or Malmö, you could then continue on to Stockholm, Oslo, or London with just one additional connection.
