The capitals usually have the advantage of offering a great selection of vegetarian restaurants. This is indeed the case for Madrid, which has so many options that making a choice can be as challenging as deciding which series to start on Netflix. As for the series, we'll let you handle that, but when it comes to vegetarian restaurants in Madrid, we've prepared our selection for you!
Sanissimo might be THE pleasant culinary surprise of your Madrid trip! The storefront itself catches the eye with its pinkish light and abundance of plants. The cozy atmosphere is also due to the presence of neon lights, floral wallpapers, and pleasant background music. The healthy and flavorful cuisine offers you a selection of burgers, wraps, and salads. Tested and approved by the editorial team: the vegetable steak burger made from pumpkin, eggplant, onions, and mushrooms, accompanied by vegan cheese, salad, and mustard sauce. We recommend it with closed eyes.
Open Monday to Sunday from 1 pm to midnight
Calle Campomanes, 5 (Sanissimo has two other locations in Madrid. The one we visited is in the Opera district)
Price: Dishes around €14
As you might expect, this other vegetarian restaurant in Madrid also offers burgers. These are juicy and hearty just as we like them! The cheeses drip onto vegetable steaks that don't try to replicate the taste of meat, but rather to surprise our taste buds. The restaurant has a lot of charm thanks to its bohemian atmosphere punctuated by flowers, velvet banquettes, and wooden furniture. We hope it will be nice weather during your visit to Viva Burger so you can sit on the terrace on a nice pedestrian square!
Open Monday to Sunday from 11 am to 1 am
Costanilla de San Andrés, 16
Burgers around €15.5
This vegetarian restaurant proves once again that plant-based food can also be delicious and creative. You will enter a chic place, with minimalist decoration and a gourmet menu. The dishes are visually stunning and delicious, with subtle and refined flavors. An example? The soy escalope, shiitake, and seeds with celery root and carrot puree. The desserts are also worth a try, like the coconut dulce de leche cheesecake or the pineapple with salted caramel... It's no wonder Mudra is listed in the Michelin Guide for 2023 and 2024!
Open Monday to Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm (5 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), then from 8 pm to midnight
Calle de Recoletos, 13
Prices: Starters around €15, mains around €20

Since chocolate is vegetarian, we couldn't not tell you about the best chocolate shop in Madrid! More precisely, this is where you should come if you want to enjoy delicious churros con chocolate, a Spanish gourmet classic. The churros are not greasy but fresh and crispy, and the hot chocolate is very thick. Generally, you either love it or hate it! And when you love it, you really love it... Chocolatería San Ginés has been open since 1894, it's a true Madrid institution. It is located a five-minute walk from the Puerta del Sol, which we recommend you visit in our one-day guide to Madrid.
Open 24 hours a day (yes, yes!), except Monday to Wednesday (closes at midnight)
Pasadizo de San Ginés,
5 €5.90 for a hot chocolate and 6 churros (be careful with the quantity you order, churros can be quickly filling!)
