The demand for night trains is booming across Europe as more travelers seek low-carbon alternatives to flying. Yet, the current experience often falls short: lack of comfort, high prices, and frequent delays. This is what motivated two mobility experts, Thibault Constant and Janek Smalla, to create Nox, a new night train company focused on delivering real comfort and affordability.
Thibault Constant, better known as Simply Railway on YouTube and Instagram, is a leading train travel influencer with over 500,000 followers. He is a former project manager at SNCF and Alstom, with over 400 nights spent on night trains worldwide.
Janek Smalla, former FlixTrain team member and former Head of Operations at Bolt Germany, brings strong operational expertise.
Together, they share a vision: night trains can become a mass travel solution if the passenger experience is truly improved.
Unlike traditional night trains that often use shared compartments, Nox will offer only private cabins, for one or two people, at no extra cost for single occupancy.
👉 All cabins will include free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and two pieces of luggage per passenger. Each train will also feature a friendly lounge and dining space.
Forget about long, complicated routes with multiple night stops. Nox focuses on short, direct, and simplified routes with only a few key stops. The goal: less noise, fewer disruptions, and better on-time performance—even in case of delays.
With this approach, Nox aims to regain the trust of travelers who have been disappointed by unreliable night trains in the past.
Nox plans to connect major cities in Western and Central Europe. The initial network will focus on routes of less than 12 hours, making them competitive with flights.
👉 More than 35 viable lines have already been identified, with the potential to expand to over 200 routes if the model proves successful.
Nox is challenging the prices of traditional night trains:
👉 These prices are often lower than most airlines—and you save a hotel night.
The official Nox website (noxmobility.com) launched on June 10, 2025. You can now:
