To start this journey, we suggest taking a direct high-speed train from Paris to Turin: in just a few hours, you'll find yourself at the foot of the Alps, in the chocolate capital.
After exploring the arcades of Turin, head to Porta Nuova station to reach Milan in less than an hour. You can admire the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele before heading east.
After visiting the fashion capital, take another train to Venice, which takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. You'll see, arriving at the lagoon at Santa Lucia station is a magical experience.
After exploring the canals and secret alleys of La Serenissima, head back down to Bologna to discover the red city: don't forget to eat some delicious fresh pasta, as this is a renowned gastronomic city.
After Bologna, head to Tuscany! You can reach Florence in just 30 minutes by train to admire the Renaissance before going to Lucca, a much underrated Italian city surrounded by medieval ramparts that you can even explore by bike.
And to end this itinerary on a high note, we'll change scenery completely by heading up to Genoa on a small regional train that will take you to Viareggio in 20 minutes, then an InterCity train to the Italian maritime city. By the way, here's a little tip: sit on the left to enjoy the sea view!
Then all you have to do is head back up to Turin and slowly make your way back to France.
After several months of closure due to the landslide in the Maurienne valley at the end of August 2023, rail traffic between Paris and Milan resumed on March 31, 2025!
With 2 daily round trips, the Frecciarossa trains operated by Trenitalia offer a direct connection between Paris Gare de Lyon and Torino Porta Susa, in about 6 hours. Note that the route is also served by 3 daily TGV INOUI trains, with a slightly shorter travel time.
Schedules may vary depending on the day and season; we recommend checking on trenitalia.com.
